I’m running Polk Audio 8″ 2-way bookshelves in front and ceiling mounted JBL satellites for center and rear rolled off <200Hz. After spending a lifetime reading tech manuals, I didn’t want to do that to watch a movie in 5.1. The other 2 competitors were far too complicated. This is the only unit of the 3 I reviewed that has quick treble, dialog and bass touch controls on the front of the unit AND on the remote! Then you can walk through the various settings to adjust to your room - I’m a recording engineer and like to do this manually (it does have the auto-sensing mic). If you use optical link, the front unit display is adequate for settings. This unit allows full control to raise the center channel and tamp down the front channel. Movie dialog can be a problem with surround sound. I compared this TX-SR393 to 2 other major brands and this was the only one that has actual volume settings for EACH channel.
